The Coastal Prairie Quilt Show is this Friday and Saturday. There was some discussion at the last bee meeting about going to the show as a group. I know that Angelique and I are attending a scrapbooking event on Saturday and Sam has another commitment as well. Anyone else interested in going? If so, please reply to the blog (not this automatic email - you have to go to website address: http://materialgirlshouston.blogspot.com/) or personally email the rest of the group.
Sam, Angelique, Karen (Kari) and I are judging the needlearts division at the Harris County Fair this Friday morning and I'm looking forward to it. Who knows, we may all hit the Quilt Show Friday after we are done judging - I hate to miss a quilt show!
And now information about our December 2012 retreat. Karen Kari talked to Sharon at Premier Estates to confirm our retreat for Nov. 30 - Dec. 2. All is set! Karen will need to send her a check at the end of Oct. for the balance ($952.00). This covers 12 people but we only have 9 who have paid the deposit of $32.00. Amy, Bobbie, Clyde, Elaine, Jas, Karen F, Karen Shelly, Karen Kari & Sam.
I know that Angelique is planning on attending so that puts the number up to 10. We can have up to 16 people (the 13th-16th persons only cost an additional $50 per person per night and the total fee would be split among all those attending.) Remember that in order to keep our costs down, we provide our own meals so we'll team up and decide who is responsible for what meal as it gets closer. So please plan on paying Karen (Kari) $96.00 at our October 13th bee meeting or make arrangements to get her the money. If we get more people to attend we will adjust the final cost.
We can also have a massage if we use at least 3 hrs. of her time. $40 for 1/2 hr. $75 for 1 hr. The most she can do is 4 1/2 hr. but we can get another person if we need them and they know ahead of time.
On a personal note...I was diagnosed with West Nile Virus and believe me, this stuff is no fun! Please be sure you use bug spray with DEET anytime you are outside. I admit I was not good at applying it before I headed out on my walks but you can bet I will now! I'm feeling better and luckily did not have any of the severe side effects. I had flu like symptoms and still feel very drained and weak but getting better every day. So spray before you venture out!
Look forward to hearing from you all!
Amy

Hi Everyone I would really like togo to the quilt show.If no one else wants togo on Sat maybe i can get together with Amy and go on Friday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bobbie
I don't think that I will go to the quilt show as I am working on Christmas items. So I guess I'll see all of you at either the guild meeting or the October bee meeting.
ReplyDeleteElaine
I will not be able to attend this quilt show this weekend. I am quilting with my sisters this weekend! Everyone enjoy! Karen Shelly
ReplyDeleteWe are looking forward to seeing Material Girls at the CPQG show! QOV will be staffing a booth there and we'll be making a presentation to three recipients near the Best of Show (think it's Saturday).
ReplyDeleteIf anyone wants to get the Group price and have the tickets waiting, just call and let them know.
Cynthia and the Two Karens
If we can go Friday, that will be fine. Bobbie you could join us. That way we'd have Sat. at home to sew!!! But I will go on Sat. if we don't get there on Friday. Anyone is welcome to go with me that wants to.
ReplyDeleteJust call me: 281-389-1754 Karen Kari (KK)
I am travelling next week so have to pass on quilting/quilt show this weekend.
ReplyDeleteTracy
I will have to pass on going this month. I will get my $$ to KK for the retreat, as it's looking like I can't make next month either - we may be on a vacation trip - will confirm before Oct. meeting if I'll be there or not.
ReplyDeleteAmy, if we need to meet as a small group to work on the guild quilt during the week - I'm willing to help.
And finally, LISTEN TO AMY - SPRAY SPRAY SPRAY - Deep Woods Off is the best to use - it's my new cologne. My husband's cousin is still not walking or able to transfer from a wheelchair after her one year anniversary of getting the virus....
