Retreat Update

We are only a couple weeks away from the retreat.  We are staying at Premier Estates in Wallis. There are 13 of us attending.  We can check in at 1:00 on Friday November 30th and check out by 4:00 on Sunday December 2nd.

Those of you who attended the bee meeting this past Saturday discussed meals.  Here is what we have so far:

Friday dinner: Amy and Angelique - deli meat and cheese tray, variety of bread for sandwiches, cheese ball and crackers. Since everyone will arrive at different times, this will allow everyone to eat when they choose.
Saturday breakfast: Bobbie and Karen Ridgway
Saturday Noon: Elaine and Sam - Taco Salad
Saturday Dinner: Clydene, Shelly and Jasmine - Chicken Tetrazinni, Salad and garlic bread
Sunday breakfast: Tracy and Carolina
Sunday Noon: leftovers

That leaves Cynthia (and Karen Fehmer if she attends) - I was thinking maybe you two could bring snacks to share?  We could set up a snack bar sort of like what we had at the retreat in LaGrange.  We could have snacks out that we can munch on throughout the weekend.  If you have any other ideas, or something else you'd like to do that's fine too. I'll bring the ingredients for S'mores in case we are lucky enough to have a bonfire again this year and Clyde is bringing her special holiday cider recipe too. Elaine is bringing the Chistmas Tree and with all of our homespun Christmas gifts under the tree; it will be quite festive!

Thanks to Bobbie the quilt now has borders sewn on and is ready to be quilted.  (Sorry about the quality of the picture, I was in a hurry and just threw the quilt on the floor to snap a quick picture so I could include it in this post).  Clydene will shop for backing fabric this weekend and hopefully we can get Jasmine to quilt it for us if she has time to do it.  We'll need it quilted and ready to be bound by mid to late December so we can have time to bind the quilt, add the hanging sleeve, label and get the finished quilt delivered to the Guild Quilt Show chairperson by the end of January.  We can discuss that in more detail at the retreat.  The quilt measures 71" x 81.

I can't think of anything else right now.  Erica will soon be coming through the door - STARVING of course, so I'm signing off.  Please remember that in order for everyone to see your comment or reply, you'll need to go to the blog and click on the word 'comment' at the bottom.  It will then bring up a window where you can type your comment.  Then click Submit or Publish.  This is the easiest way for everyone to stay informed without us searching through mounds of emails for the latest reply.

How many homemade gifts are needed? 12? 14? I want to make sure I make enough for everyone. I think last year Karen F. did not attend but she particapated in the exchange.

I am still in Singapore but headed home on Friday.

Thanks for including me in the meal planning ! It took me a minute to find myself! LOL

  6. There are 13 people attending the retreat and all are participating in the gift exchange. So 12 gifts are needed for the exchange and one extra if you want one for yourself.

Glad you are still able to make the retreat Shelly! We miss you too!
