| Our Quilt Show quilt! |
Jas did a great job on the quilt. I should have taken a picture of the back but I forgot and I have it all tucked away in the bag now so I don't want to disturb it...besides, my cell phone camera isn't the best (maybe it's the operator?) She pieced the backing fabric and included our extra blocks. Remember the block we all signed? It's there too. I really like the pattern Jasmine chose, it's a all over floral design. (Again, if I was a better photographer you'd be able to see the quilting design better but you'll just have to take my word for it.) I know I will be buying several tickets for a chance to win this quilt!
Sam and I think we should use the white to bind it. (We think that will help hide any flaws on our binding - yep - I said it! I still have a long way to go on perfecting my binding skills). What do y'all think? White ok? I will check to see if the community center is available any weekend this month and we can meet again and work on the binding. Sam volunteered to do it but I think that's a lot for one person to complete it. If we have 3 or 4 people hand sewing the binding down I think we can get it done in a few hours.
We have enough fabric left for the binding so no additional fabric purchase will be neccesary. We do need to reimburse Jas for the backing fabric and the batting. C'mon Jas...tell us how much we owe you! (For the record, I've asked her several times and she's ignoring me but I'm not going to let her out of this...it's only fair that she be reimbursed.)
Retreat Update: March 21st - 24th. Thursday thru' Sunday. I don't want any mix ups like last year. I have an email in to Margie about cost and arrival times on Thursday and check out on Sunday. We'll need to assign meals as the March bee meeting so please attend or you might get stuck with the steak and lobster meal :-) I know Sam and Elaine were unsure if they were attending the retreat so please let me know as soon as possible so I can give Margie a firm headcount.
I think that's all for now.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Please remember that the two Karens and I will be in Dallas staffing the QOV booth at the quilt show the weekend of the March bee. Since we will be unable to attend, we have discussed it and would like to request that we be assigned the Saturday evening meal. Karen B is catholic and cannot eat meat on Fridays during Lent. None of us are really morning people...LOL. Please let us know what is decided.
ReplyDeleteLinda Love is in Mississippi visiting her brother so I don't have confirmation yet of whether or not she will attend. She has never been on a sewing retreat and is really excited about being invited!
The raffle quilt turned out beautifully; each of you should be pleased with your results. I agree that the white binding would be appropriate. IMHO, I feel that any color would distract from the blocks and border.
Cynthia
I would like to see us pull a collor from the quilt and bind it with that. It will also frame the quilting on the borders so that it stands out more.

I don't know what singing block you are talking about. The quilt look good. Remember Linda L. needs to have the quilt soon so that she can get the measurements for the pole and drape people for the show, Feb 15 was her target date. I don't have a weekend available to help with the binding. I offered before.
ReplyDeleteAs I have told several people I will NOT be able to attend the March retreat.
Elaine
I definately will not be able to go to the March Retreat. I was so hoping I could move something around, but it didn't work! :( I know Elaine and I will be missed, but I think you can perserve without us. :)
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is awesome and it would be great if a few of us could find a Saturday to work on it. I know I'm free the weekend of 2/23 or 3/2 if anyone else is. We have let Linda Lindell know the dimensions of the quilt, so we don't need to get it to her by tomorrow. So she can progress on her planning for the Quilt show. But the sooner we complete it the better! I believe I saw Elaine's signature on the block on the back. We'll double check when we bind the quilt. Sorry Elaine that you won't be able to join the binding session, but I know how busy you are getting working on the Quilt Show and with your family obligations. I think we owe Jas a round of applause as she did a beautiful job of quilting it. But Jas, we are going to have your phone checked! I don't think it's working. haha I'm so proud of the bee as everyone did something to create this great quilt. I hope I win it in the Top Hat raffle!

I have reserved the community center on Feb. 23rd so if you are available to come help bind, we'd appreciate it. We have the room for the entire day so we should have time to work on our own projects too.

I'll bee there with bells on! Thanks Amy. That way we can keep the quilt out of my smoky house! Ugh.

I have a handbell festival that day but I am hoping I can get by in the afternoon to help some on the binding. KK
DeleteWell, I'm just now reading the post - had my grandkids from Dallas last weekend anyway. If you still need help binding, let me know. It looks beautiful!!!! Kudos to Jazz too!! I may not make the March bee as my grandson's bday party date has not been given to me BUT I WILL be at the retreat!!
